NOT SURE WHAT SCALE TO BUY?
Q: What is NTEP?
A: NTEP means legal for trade.
For a scale system to be NTEP the scale base, loadcell and indicator must all
be NTEP. All NTEP products have a label located on the item and bears the NTEP
label
or a COC (Certificate
of Conformance) number.
Q: How do I know if I need an NTEP scale?
A: If you are buying or selling and basing a price on the weight of the item/s you are required by law to use an NTEP scale. If you are unsure if your business requires an NTEP scale, your state Department of Agriculture should be able to advise you. If in doubt, always buy NTEP.
Q: What types of businesses use NTEP scales?
A: Recycling centers, landscaping, seafood and produce, restaurants and delis, paper producing plants, textile and mills, some shipping companies, and most government agencies require NTEP. This is just to name a few of the many types of businesses that require NTEP scales.
Q: What type of business does not need NTEP?
A: If you are getting a shipping weight or using the weight for internal purposes only you "probably" don't need an NTEP scale.
Q: What size scale do I need if I am weighing pallets?
A: The minimum size to weigh a pallet would measure 44" x 44".
Q: What size scale do I need if I am using a pallet jack to load pallets?
A: We recommend the 4' x 6' scale with at least one ramp for use with a pallet jack.
Q: Do I need a stainless steel upgrade?
A: If you are going to locate your scale outdoors, chances are you need a stainless steel upgrade package. Call us for pricing. Stainless steel indicators are also available for most of our products. If in doubt, ASK!

The global situation of increasing fuel costs has forced this move. We believe a temporary fuel surcharge rather than a price increase would best serve our customers.
